Bridging Health Gaps in New Orleans: BCHS Showcases Innovative Care at Grantmakers in Health Conference through 504HealthNet
This past week, some of our BCHS team had the privilege of engaging with health-focused funders from across the country. As a proud member of 504HealthNet, BCHS got to showcase some of the innovative strategies and collaborative health initiatives going on in New Orleans during the Grantmakers in Health Conference. Our CEO, alongside other key team members, participated in dynamic events aimed at demonstrating the power of collaboration in improving health outcomes across our city.
A highlight of the conference was offering funders tours of our mobile dental unit — one part of our whole innovative, game-changing mobile strategy designed to close critical health care gaps and expand access to health services throughout New Orleans. Our mobile care program, consisting of two mobile care units that are equipped to provide oral health, mental health, primary care, and crisis medical response, was made possible by the generous philanthropic support of organizations like Direct Relief and Abbott exemplifying how targeted investments can drive real-world change in healthcare delivery and access for real people — right here in our city.
The conference also provided an invaluable platform to hear from a panel of some of New Orleans’ most influential health leaders. They shared compelling stories of resilience, including firsthand accounts of healthcare challenges during Hurricane Katrina and the crucial lessons learned as we approach the storm’s 20th anniversary. These narratives underscored the vital role of long-term and collaborative philanthropic investments in transforming health systems and improving patient outcomes.
Our team was inspired and motivated by the powerful synergy between community organizations, funders, and health advocates coming together to strive toward more equitable care for all. We remain committed to leveraging these partnerships to advance innovative, accessible health solutions and to serving our community with compassion and excellence.
